Got nowt to watch on DVD. Thought I would do a wee list for something to do in a boring Thursday night.
(in no particular order)
Looking forward to this one since I saw the trailer. Ben Affleck back to writing and directing. It’s been received in the states very well and IMDB seems to back that up. 8.2/10 is a damn good score. Mate told me that the release of this movie has been delayed in the UK due to the Maddy fiasco. Casey Affleck is damn good too. Very underrated IMO. If you ain’t seen a film called Lonesome Jim then try and get your hands on it.
2. Watchmen
Reading the graphic novel as speak so I’m looking forward to this one, as is every comic book geek on the planet I believe. This one is going to be a blockbuster.
3. Cloverfield
Looks awesome. Saw the trailer the other night and it gave me goosebumps. Very intriguing. But my bet is that we are going to need a sick back to watch it!
Awesome premise for a movie. “A man (Jack Black) whose brain becomes magnetized unintentionally destroys every tape in his friend’s video store. In order to satisfy the store’s most loyal renter, an aging woman with signs of dementia, the two men set out to remake the lost films, which include Back to the Future, The Lion King, and Robocop”. Say no more, I’m well excited! Trailer.
5. 10,000 B.C.
Re imagining of the sixties movie. Looks epic from the trailer. I love a good epic flick, so thats why its on this list. Trailer
6. I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With
I just like the sound of this. Also, starring Sarah Silverman, whom I believe was recently voted the ‘coolest’ woman on the planet. Written by a guy who was heavily involved in Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Of course this is on the list. Its by Peter Jackson. The man. I actually hated the book, but am very excited to see how Mr Jackson handles going back to a ‘real world(ish)’ drama. Its also very hard to imagine how they are going to deal with the Heaven/Earth side of things.
8. The Mist
Frank Darabont doing another Stephen King adaptation, but this being his first delve into the Horror genre. Can he pull it off? Well, the trailer looks magnificent, and the reviews I have read thus far seem to convince us that he can. I’ll be at the Cinema to see this one. Oh yeah baby.
9. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Indiana Jones. Nuff said. Surely this will wipe the floor of all other movies in 2008.
I consider Ryan Gosling to be the best actors out there at the moment. This film looks great fun.
