The Daily Photoshop (Number 1)

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Starting today I have a new project. Every day I am going to post something interesting I have done in Photoshop. Doesn’t have to be smart. Doesn’t have to even look good. The importance is that I maintain a healthy relationship with the software. I’ll muck about. I’ll try whatever comes into my head. Hopefully I’ll learn some techniques and maybe even inspire myself and others out there.

So here is TDP (The Daily Photoshop) number one.

Just a gradient. Sprayed strokes filter then liquefied a circle in the middle.

Your poster in the real world!

Hi all. Done another tutorial for you. I’m quite enjoying giving back to the community that I’ve taken so much from in the past. I’ll aim to do one a week from now on so keep checking back!

This one is for those of you how would like to see their graphic work (or anyone’s for that matter) in a real life situation. I chose a bus shelter ad because its kinda interesting and I cover a good few general Photoshop tips that might be useful for anyone.

Living For The Weekend

Friday, September 12th, 2008

I’ve been run off my feet this week. Working in Lucid Studio and the god forsaken shit-hole that is 301 St Vincent Street. At last it is nearly the weekend.

Its been hard. 8am to 10pm all week. Wondering if I’m getting anywhere, and generally freaking out trying to meet the demands of my growing client base. But even through this hardship I’ve been chuffed at some of the stuff I’ve done. Like mixing 3d packages with photoshop for example. It makes me smile when it works. Have a look at this program: Swift3D. Its so easy to grasp it makes me want to party in my geeky little pants. I keep meaning to do another tutorial. If I get time this weekend I’ll do one integrating Swift with Photoshop.

It was also weird this week. I was in Glasgow walking to my part time ‘life assurance’ job and within the space of two or three minutes I saw four different posters on the streets that I had doneĀ in my little old room. Its a great sense of achievement. Not something I think you would come close to working for the man.

So now that I’ve slaved away all week, I bid yee all farewell. I’m off to revel in my glory by kicking back and living the British dream…

I’m going to get plastered out my mind.

Bring Out The Colour

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

For my first tutorial I thought I’d do a wee easy tutorial that will have mass appeal.

Some of you out there might think that bringing out the colour in a photo is just a case of increasing the saturation of the pic. Thats not quite the case because doing this too much can create alot of noize and jpg artifacts that don’t really blend nice. Well, here is a tutorial on how to get the best colourful results from your pictures.
