Superhero!

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Today I watched an amazing movie. It is called Defendor. Rough jist is that it’s about a guy, played by Woody Harrelson, who has a learning disability and has taken it upon himself to clean up the prostitution problem in his home town. It is a really dark comedy. Harrelson plays it to a tee. This wouldn’t have been the movie it was if not for him. Absolutely bitchin’ soundtrack too. Watch the trailer below:

You may or may not be aware that there is another similar type movie coming out soon called ‘Kick Ass‘. The movie has been getting rave reviews so far, but I have a hard time imagining it being any better than Defendor.

Anyway, on the back of this movie, I was watching the new trailer for Kick Ass and noticed a really nice text effect going on in it. Thought I would try and recreate the effect myself. Here is the result using a mixture of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop:

Didn’t take long to do. I might do a tut on it if anyone is interested?

Cinema 4d and Photoshop CS4

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Purchased Cinema 4d and Photoshop CS4 this week as part of Lucid Studio. I’ve been mucking about with some of the features and before I knew it I had something quite funky. Thought I would post it to let you all see.

Created with Cinema 4d and CS4

Love the layout to CS4. So much more organised and intuitive. Lucid Studio is going to reap the benifits from the increased productivity. Cinema 4d seems nice too. Need to have more of a playabout with it!

TDP – Make it Old

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Hi. Todays little experiment was to take a photo I had and make it look like one of the old photos your mum or dad might get out and its been ravaged by time. Here is my result:

I got a photo I took on a digital camera. Messed about with the colour balance to make it look a bit ‘greeny’. Then added an Alpha channel with an image of crumpled up paper, to which I added a lighting effect to give it a slight ‘crumpled’ shadow. I then added a gradient of yellow to the top of the image to make the top look more exposed than the other. Then added a few coffee stains with this brush.

TDP – Headless

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Asked in the office yesterday: “Someone give me a challenge for TDP tomorrow.” The reply was “Do a picture of someone without a head”. So here is the result. The picture is of me and the other half at a wedding. Background could have been fixed up a little better but didn’t want to spend too much time on it as I am a busy man!

TDP – The Eighties

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

A wee experiment for today’s ‘daily photoshop’ was to make an attempt at a 80′s look…
