The Great Movie Experiment

movies

So much to watch. So little time

Just wanted to let you know about a pretty cool thing a friend of a friend is doing just now….

The Great Movie Experiment is an alternative public ranking system for movies. It provides a bit of fun for its visitors, but also looks like its going to gives us a pretty solid ‘continuously updating’ movie league table.

From a web designers perspective I think the site also functions very well, and with the use of features like facebook connectivity you feel like you are in good hands.

I hear there are plans to bring in a more personal experience to this site with stuff like user profile pages that will show you all your votes, how they compare to your friend’s votes and also recommendations. Bring it on.

Its one of those times where the more people who get involved the more rewarding experience the results will be. It already looks as though its getting a large number of visitors but voting for this site on the likes of digg, stumbleupon and facebook would do the long term life of this site the world of good.

Been messing about with Cinema 4d when ever I get a spare minute these days. Really brilliant program.

Here is a little animation test I rendered tonight:

I’m impressed how real the text is behaving as it falls. Forces acting upon the text are gravity and a slight wind in the x-plane to add a bit of variation.

Cinema 4d and Photoshop CS4

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Purchased Cinema 4d and Photoshop CS4 this week as part of Lucid Studio. I’ve been mucking about with some of the features and before I knew it I had something quite funky. Thought I would post it to let you all see.

Love the layout to CS4. So much more organised and intuitive. Lucid Studio is going to reap the benifits from the increased productivity. Cinema 4d seems nice too. Need to have more of a playabout with it!
