Your poster in the real world!

Hi all. Done another tutorial for you. I’m quite enjoying giving back to the community that I’ve taken so much from in the past. I’ll aim to do one a week from now on so keep checking back!

This one is for those of you how would like to see their graphic work (or anyone’s for that matter) in a real life situation. I chose a bus shelter ad because its kinda interesting and I cover a good few general Photoshop tips that might be useful for anyone.

An amazing site, showing that minimal is the way to go

Been doing a bit of research today for a new website I’m working on. As a result I stumbled upon this amazing site. I’ve seen it before, but still feel really impressed by it. It makes me want to go to Italy just to visit this place.

It’s actually not that complicated a site to build I reckon. What makes it is the use of the photography combined with the minimal layout. A lot of people have issues with flash ‘preloading’ sites and just haven’t got the patience to wait. But, as this site is very simple in content, it takes hardly any time to load. I think it proves that some things are just worth the wait.

This brings me to another point. You’d think with a name like Mario Jaconelli I would have been to Italy before. Nope. It’d love to go, but its seems when me and the Mrs get round to booking a holiday we are always in the mind set of a cheep holiday next to a pool. Which is great, and I love it. But, if I had a spare bit of time/cash kicking about, then I’d definitely make plans. Stay tuned.

PS. If anyone knows the name of the song on the ‘nightclub’ home page. Let me know.

Living For The Weekend

Friday, September 12th, 2008

I’ve been run off my feet this week. Working in Lucid Studio and the god forsaken shit-hole that is 301 St Vincent Street. At last it is nearly the weekend.

Its been hard. 8am to 10pm all week. Wondering if I’m getting anywhere, and generally freaking out trying to meet the demands of my growing client base. But even through this hardship I’ve been chuffed at some of the stuff I’ve done. Like mixing 3d packages with photoshop for example. It makes me smile when it works. Have a look at this program: Swift3D. Its so easy to grasp it makes me want to party in my geeky little pants. I keep meaning to do another tutorial. If I get time this weekend I’ll do one integrating Swift with Photoshop.

It was also weird this week. I was in Glasgow walking to my part time ‘life assurance’ job and within the space of two or three minutes I saw four different posters on the streets that I had done in my little old room. Its a great sense of achievement. Not something I think you would come close to working for the man.

So now that I’ve slaved away all week, I bid yee all farewell. I’m off to revel in my glory by kicking back and living the British dream…

I’m going to get plastered out my mind.

Its Been A While

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Blog fever has hit the office this week where I work, and has put me in the mood to get back into it. Sorry its been a while. Been really busy with my own business lately, so I’ll use that as an excuse.

So, aye, Blog fever. Check out the Blogs a couple of my mates have started. Not as good as mine technically speaking (obviously), but I’m sure the chat will be far superior to mine.

Last month as been domineered by Stag do’s. First up was Darren’s. A mate from work. Darren, another 14 blokes and I went to St Andrews for a night. It was grand. But I was pissed. Beyond pissed. I’m talking riding a chained up bike and ringing the bike bell pissed.  Kinda annoyed me that I was so drunk and I think I have came to a conclusion of why this was so:

See. I’m on these tablets like. I’ll not tell you what they are for, but it does mention on the small print not to take them with alcohol. I just think they put those kind of warnings on tablets as a precaution.

So as an experiment at last weekends stag do, which was with my main man ‘The Badgers’ in Berlin, I decided not to take any tablets over the weekend. To my surprise I there was a noticeable difference. I was fine both nights. So I’m going to take heed in the future.

Here is a nice wee pic of the lads in a wee pub in Berlin.

Berlin Boys

Present are: Myself, Buzz, Dez, Grunt, Colin, Badger, Besty, Neil, Shug, Sloney, Grommit, Clarky, Bryzo and Spunky
